I Vowed We Would Fight

When my husband started coughing and wheezing, I spent many nights lying awake worrying about lung cancer. He was a smoker for fifteen years, from the time he was ten to about the age of twenty-five. Even though it had been seventeen years since he had picked up a cigarette, I worried that it had affected him beyond repair. When we found out what the problem was, however, it was even worse than I had feared. It was asbestos cancer from his years of working construction, which has an even worse prognosis. I knew that the battle was going to be long, involving both doctors and Mesothelioma Lawyers, but I vowed that we would fight it.
