Can land be a good investment?

I was speaking to a colleague the other day about investments. He suggested that I look into Land investments. I was really confused about investing in land because no one had ever suggested it before. I asked him if it was actually a good investment. He shared a few of his investments and returns with me to show me. It turns out that it was a fantastic investment option for him. I have decided to look into it as an investment for myself. If it works out even half as well for me it will be a great investment in my future and towards my retirement.
